Pretty simple. At this point in time, I just enjoy listening to those 3 versions the most. I can re-listen to them several times, and still say “WOW!” each time. While I certainly think there are other versions on par with them, there's something about those 3 that strike me like the others don't. That's the best I can explain it. I don't really look for the most developed thematic jamming, or the tightest playing, just whatever strikes me as most interesting musically. Those 3 really do it for me right now, but I will likely have a different list a few months from now. I believe 8/27 will remain at the top though. I'll be listening to a lot of Fall '72 in the coming months, so I after re-listening to all those great Dark Stars, I may change my mind again.

What's your fav '72 DS?

I like your WOW factor. I don't know that I really have a favorite. I basically listen to the basic rotation that Dennis described (and other years) and spread them out so I don't remember any of them all that well. That helps my WOW process. :)
